Our client is delighted with their newly completed contemporary glass extension to their listed home in Bath. Hetreed Ross Architects successfully obtained Listed Building Consent for the glazed extension and Bath Style Ltd have skillfully realised the design. The client’s brief was for an exceptionally high quality contemporary extension which would be a worthy addition to their 17th Century house and maximise views to their south facing garden. The project also included the sympathetic redecoration and upgrades to the thermal performance of the original house while carefully preserving the character of the listed Bath building.
In plan the extension deferentially steps in where it links to the existing house before expanding into the spacious glass dining garden room. The pyramid roof over this space soars to high roof-light creating a sense of arrival and occasion. Full height frameless glass combines the uninterrupted views of being outside with the comfort of being inside. Large overhangs and openings reduce solar gains in the summer months.
