Contemporary New Sustainable House near Stroud
Situated in a village Conservation Area near Stroud, this new sustainable home replaces a pair of derelict, semi-detached bungalows. The design has had to meet the challenges of a steep hillside site, neighboring listed building and difficult ground conditions. A careful step by step approach has been necessary to ascertain the site’s viability for redevelopment whilst minimizing costs.
The single level design sets the house above the lane. A low sedum planted roofscape provides an improved outlook for higher properties and a small, south facing pitched roof gives space for some solar pv panels. Quietly contemporary, the traditional materials reflect those of the local area with Cotswold stone blended with timber cladding.
