The buildings had been altered over many years, and were now in need of further refurbishment, no longer able to satisfy the original intent of providing supported independent living accommodation for elderly Bath residents, who had been relocated into high quality modern apartments in the city.
Alterations carried out in the 1950s and again in the 1980s, removed some of the original features and amended the layouts into the 10 flats we worked with. Alterations to these layouts included, the removal of modern internal partitions to open up the spaces, enabling modern fittings, finishes and services to be installed. The most significant change was the provision of new timber windows throughout, unifying the appearance both to Bilbury Lane outside and within the courtyard.
The resulting stylish holiday rental apartments are proving very popular with tourists.
