Through a positive process of negotiation with local Listed Building, Building Control and Environmental Health officers, both the overall proposals for the site and the detailed scheme for the farmhouse minimising alterations to the historic fabric within essential health and safety constraints, were agreed and the applications made within 3 months, with all consents achieved within the 2 month period.
Work on site had already begun and HRA had been engaged on a design and build basis by Wraxall Builders. In parallel, detailed applications – including for mitigation works to achieve an EPS Licence for resident bats – were prepared for the conversion and restoration of the historic farm buildings for staff accommodation, training spaces and a Trust office; as the consents and details were successfully negotiated, the work proceeded on site in phases towards completion in 2011.
